About the founder…

Hello there! I’m Gillian, the founder and maker behind Coorie Home Co. 

The word coorie is a Scottish one and it’s at the heart of everything I create. To coorie means to snuggle in, to get cosy, to feel safe, warm and at home. It’s a word that instantly brings to mind little rituals, quiet moments, family life and the comfort of your own space - and that’s exactly the feeling I want my fragrances to bring into your home.

Coorie Home Co. began in early 2021 as a small creative outlet just for me. At the time I was pregnant with my second baby and I was looking for something that felt like mine… a way to slow down, switch off and pour myself into something creative during a season of life that can so easily consume you. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a genuine curiosity and love for fragrance and the way a home can feel when it’s filled with a beautiful scent.

The very first thing I ever made was a batch of Rhubarb & Custard heart-shaped wax melts using a tiny bag of wax, a small bottle of fragrance oil and a heart shaped mould (all purchased with birthday money from Granny Mo!) I remember pouring them, half expecting them not to work but being absolutely thrilled when they did. That scent will always hold a special place in my heart, it marked the moment I realised I might actually be onto something!

 

As the business grew, so did my confidence and in 2022, I took the leap to run Coorie Home Co. full-time. Then in February 2023 I moved from my dining room table into a cosy farmyard workshop just outside Linlithgow. In November 2023, I completed a professional candle making course, deepening my passion for creating fragrances inspired by nature, memories and moments.

At the heart of Coorie Home Co. is a simple belief: I only want to pour scents that I would happily burn or melt in my own home. Seaweed & Juniper goes on after a spring clean, Warm Woods & Cashmere is my go-to when guests pop by and Raspberry & Amber is saved for slower evenings spent unwinding with a book.

Lighting a candle is a small but meaningful ritual for me - a way to mark the end of the day, create comfort and bring a sense of calm into our home. I hope my fragrances help you create those same moments in yours.
