The Easiest Way to Clean Your Wax Burner: A Step-by-Step Guide

The Easiest Way to Clean Your Wax Burner: A Step-by-Step Guide

There’s nothing nicer than the soft glow of a tealight burner filling your home with beautiful fragrance. But once your wax melt has finished working its magic, you’ll need to give your burner a little refresh. Don’t worry – it’s much easier (and less messy!) than you might think. Here’s my simple step-by-step guide to keeping your burner clean and ready for your next melt.

What You’ll Need

  • Paper towels or cotton pads

  • Warm, soapy water

  • A small brush (an old toothbrush works perfectly)

Step 1: Let It Cool

Always let your burner cool down completely before cleaning. The wax should be fully set – that way you won’t risk any burns or spills.

Step 2: Pop It in the Freezer

Here at Coorie HQ, our favourite trick is to pop the whole burner in the freezer for five minutes. It sounds odd, but it works like magic! Once you take it out, the wax should simply slide out in one neat disk.

Step 3: Wipe Away Residue

Use a paper towel or cotton pad to wipe away any leftover wax. Be sure to get into all the little corners so your burner is completely clean.

Step 4: Give It a Wash

Fill your sink or a basin with warm, soapy water and let your burner soak for a few minutes. This will loosen any stubborn residue. Use your brush to gently scrub, then rinse with clean water.

(Just to say – this step is only for tealight burners! Please don’t put your electric burners anywhere near water.)

Step 5: Dry It Off

Pat your burner dry with a clean cloth or paper towel, making sure there’s no moisture left before using it again.

Step 6: Enjoy a Fresh Start

That’s it! Your burner is clean, shiny, and ready for your next wax melt. Keeping on top of cleaning not only makes your burner last longer but also helps your melts smell their very best.

If you’re looking for a new wax burner (or maybe fancy adding a spare one to your collection), you can find our carefully chosen range here – paired with our soy wax melts, they make the perfect duo for keeping your home feeling cosy and beautifully scented.

Cleaning your wax burner doesn’t need to be a chore – just a quick little refresh now and again means you can get back to what really matters: choosing your next favourite fragrance and enjoying that lovely glow ✨
