Ready to fill your home with beautiful fragrance? A wax burner and a few melts are all you need to create that cosy, inviting atmosphere we all love. But if you want to get the very best from your burner, there are a few handy tips to know. Here’s my simple guide to making the most of your melts.
What is a Wax Burner?
Let’s start at the beginning. A wax burner (sometimes called a wax warmer or melter) is designed to gently melt wax melts and release their fragrance into the air. Tealight burners use the heat of a candle, while electric burners use a bulb or heated plate to do the same job. Both create the same result: gorgeous scent filling your space.
1. Choose the Right Burner
Not all burners are created equal. A proper wax melt burner will have a larger, deeper dish, while oil burners (which look similar) are smaller and not safe to use with melts. If you’re ever unsure, check the label on the base. And if you’re shopping with Coorie Home Co, you can rest assured that every burner in our collection is melt-safe.
2. Start Fresh
Always clean out your burner before adding a new melt. This keeps the fragrance clear and true, without mixing with any leftover scent. A quick wipe with kitchen roll, or following our freezer trick (pop the cooled burner in the freezer for five minutes, then slide the wax out), works wonders.
3. Add Your Wax Melt
Pop one piece of your wax melt into the dish – that’s usually enough to fragrance a whole room. If your burner is large, you might add two. Resist the temptation to overfill, as too much wax can spill when melted.
4. Light Up or Switch On
If you’re using a tealight burner, go for an unscented 4-hour tealight. (Longer burn tealights can overheat burners and aren’t recommended.) Electric burners are even simpler – just flick the switch. Within minutes, your wax will begin to melt and release fragrance.
5. Sit Back & Enjoy
This is the best bit – your home filling with fragrance as you relax into the cosy glow. One cube of wax melt should last you around 3 tealights’ worth of fragrance, depending on the scent. Just remember: never leave a burner unattended, and always keep it out of reach of children and pets.
6. Clean & Refresh
Once the fragrance has faded, let the wax cool and harden before removing it. Then you’re ready to start fresh with a new melt – perhaps even try a different scent depending on your mood.
A wax burner is such a simple little thing, but it makes a big impact on your home. Paired with natural soy wax melts, it’s an easy way to create a calm, cosy space that feels like you.
